Elden Ring: Ruined Forge of Starfall Past
The Ruined Forge of Starfall Past is one of the hidden gems in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, offering valuable loot and an interesting set of challenges. Located southwest of the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace and Dryleaf Dane, this optional dungeon is home to enemies, treasures, and unique rewards. Here's a step-by-step guide to navigating it, collecting items, and defeating the foes within.
Getting to the Ruined Forge of Starfall Past
From Moorth Ruins Site of Grace, head southwest until you reach an ancient stone structure in a field. Outside, a pair of feathered swordsmen guard the entrance. Take them on one at a time to prevent them from overwhelming you, as separating them makes the encounter manageable.
Exploring the Dungeon
Entrance and Initial Loot
Enter the forge, go down the ladder, and proceed to a room with a Site of Grace. Head into the next area to find Smithing Stones 5 and 6 embedded in the ground, while a nearby corpse holds five Smithing Stone 3 shards. Continue across a southeastern walkway, where another feathered swordsman guards a corpse holding the Smithscript Spear.
Unlocking the Barricade
In the northeast corner of this area, pull the lever to lower a barricade below. Take the ladder down or drop directly and defeat two more feathered swordsmen.
Navigating the Magma-Filled Tunnel
Continue through the tunnel, defeating a magma blob at the end. Rounding the next corner, be prepared to confront a stone golem wielding a lava pot. Use a blunt weapon to target the gem on its back for maximum damage or run past it if you'd prefer to conserve resources.
Deeper into the Tunnel
Move down the tunnel and look out for a magma blob in the first indent on the right, ready to ambush with a stab or projectile attack. Past it, you'll find another magma blob near a ladder and a corpse with a Somber Smithing Stone 7. Be cautious, as grabbing the stone activates a hidden stone golem.
Ascending the Ladder and Facing New Foes
After dealing with or avoiding the golem, climb the ladder to reach a large room with magma blobs and a resting golem. Carefully approach, as the blobs may attack from a distance. Loot a corpse holding a Somber Smithing Stone 8 in an alcove on the far side of the room, then head up a slope of debris to reach a metal platform.
Securing the Smithing Talisman
Before dropping off the platform, turn left to find a corpse holding the Smithing Talisman. As you approach, multiple magma blobs will descend from above. Quickly grab the talisman and retreat. Drop off the southeastern corner of the platform onto an elevated walkway below to loot another Smithing Stone 8.
Final Barricade and Golem Encounter
Cross the walkway, then pull the lever to lower the barricade blocking the next section. Drop down and follow the newly opened tunnel northwest to a circular room with two stone golems. The first golem is to your right as you enter, and the second is to the left. Near the northern waterfall, loot the corpse for the Smithscript Cirque.
Accessing the Forge
Backtrack to the room with the second lever (near the golem with the pot). In the alcove near the barricade, pull another lever and quickly stand atop the rising barricade to reach a higher level. Head southwest to access the forge, where you'll find the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword and an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
Tips for Boss Preparation
With the loot in hand, you're ready to venture further in the Shadow of the Erdtree and face Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon for your second Great Elden Ring Runes and additional rare Elden Ring items.
