Diablo 4: The Dark Citadel Guide

The Dark Citadel is a thrilling new raid-like multiplayer endgame activity in Diablo 4, designed to challenge players and test their teamwork. If you're diving in for the first time, it might be quite a challenge unless you're significantly over-leveled. Here's a detailed guide to help you navigate through this formidable dungeon.

Getting Started

To begin your adventure in the Dark Citadel, head to the Westernmost area of the Ancient Nexus. Look for the door that leads into the citadel.

Enclave of Strife

Upon entering, you'll find yourself in a room filled with corridors and a primary objective to locate the Crystalline Chamber. At the bottom of your quest tracker, there's a bonus meter that tracks the number of Treasury Wardens you kill throughout this segment. This can contribute to additional rewards, so keep an eye on it.

Path of the Initiate

Navigate through the Path of the Initiate until you spot a doorway marked by a door icon on the minimap.

In the next room, you'll see a large circle with two Soul Siphons positioned on either side. Interact with both siphons.

After interacting, a circle will spawn in the center. Stand within this circle, and you'll see a meter filling up, marked by icons on the minimap.

Upon completion of each Soul Siphon, a Ward Guardian will spawn. Defeat this guardian to obtain a Ward Stone.

After acquiring the Ward Stone, you can insert it into the Sealing Ward located at the top of the room on either side of the door. Both Wards must be filled to unlock the passage to the next area.

Halls of Judgment

This area resembles the Path of the Initiate and serves as a transition to the next encounter. Here, you can continue to hunt down more Treasury Wardens to complete your Khazra Treasury reward tier.

At the end of this segment, you'll arrive at a room featuring two pathways blocked by colored barriers. There will be a yellow switch on the ground.

Have one player step on the yellow switch to open one passage, while another player activates the green switch to open the second. Once both switches are activated, both barriers will be permanently down.

Split your team into two groups and send them down their respective paths. Each team will encounter similar rooms with the goal of defeating enemies until a Ward Guardian appears.

Locate the barrier behind which the Ward Guardian is hidden, and step on the corresponding switch to release it. There are two Ward Guardians to defeat here, one for each team.

After both Ward Guardians are defeated and their Ward Stones collected, head to the top of the room and insert the stones into the Sealing Ward to remove the barriers for both teams.

Continue advancing through the area until you discover another Soul Siphon. Activate it and stand in the circle until the siphon is complete.

After this, another Ward Guardian will spawn. You'll need to step on the switch to release it, defeat it, and then insert the Ward Stone into the Sealing Ward again.

Keep progressing until you encounter a gateway marked on your minimap. As you approach the gateway, Realm Guardians will spawn, dropping Realm Shards upon defeat. Collect these shards and bring them to the gateway to charge it.

Final Thoughts

Completing the Dark Citadel requires coordination, strategy, and a well-rounded team. Remember to communicate with your party, share resources, and adapt your strategy based on the enemies you encounter.

Consider acquiring Diablo 4 gold and Diablo 4 items to enhance your character's capabilities and improve your chances of success in this challenging endgame content. Happy hunting, and may your adventures in Sanctuary be filled with glory and riches!
