Diablo 4: Beast In The Ice Boss Guide

The Beast in the Ice has seen some small changes in Diablo 4's Season of the Infernal Hordes, removing it from the Nightmare Dungeon system and turning it into a dedicated pinnacle boss you can farm. Fighting this massive beast is a great way to fill out your collection of Uniques, and it's one of the easier bosses to farm on Tormented difficulty, giving you better odds of earning a Mythic Unique.

But before you start farming this boss, you'll want to know how to summon the Beast in the Ice and how to deal with its mechanics. This guide covers everything you need to know about the Beast in the Ice, ranging from summoning costs to drop tables for every character.

How To Summon The Beast In The Ice

Blizzard changed Beast in the Ice's summoning requirements somewhat in Season of the Infernal Hordes. You'll find Beast in the Ice in the Glacial Fissure dungeon in Fractured Peaks, located south of Kyovashad. Unlike previous seasons, you do not need to craft a Nightmare Dungeon Sigil to enter this dungeon. You can simply walk in and access the Beast's summoning altar.

You'll need the following materials to summon the Beast in the Ice:

Normal: x9 Distilled Fear

Tormented: x1 Stygian Stone, x27 Distilled Fear

Distilled Fear is typically found in slain elites and treasure goblins, although it can also be earned from hillside monsters and whisper caches. Stygian Stones are only needed if you want to fight the Tormented version of Beast in the Ice. You can earn these from Pit runs, the Infernal Hordes resource chest, and through the season journey.

Summoning the Tormented version of this boss will set Beast in the Ice to Level 200 and drastically increase its damage, preventing most builds from face tanking the boss' mechanics. If you can kill the Tormented version of this boss, however, you'll earn five times as much loot. It's absolutely worth doing if your build can handle the added difficulty.

Beast In The Ice Boss Guide

Beast in the Ice is a hulking demon that wields an icy blade, dealing Cold damage. Try to cap your Cold Resistance and Armor before you attempt to fight this enemy. When the fight begins, the Beast in the Ice will crash into the middle plate and begin to swing its blade at you. After a few seconds, the beast will enshroud the arena in the wind, trapping you in a small circle. Be ready to dodge attacks.

Every quarter of the boss' HP you remove will start an invulnerability phase. The boss will fly into the air and line the floor with ice attacks. You need to stand in the small gap between each telegraph. Tanking this hit is possible on Normal difficulty, but Tormented difficulty will penalize you with a Tormented debuff, increasing all damage you receive. If it hits three stacks, you'll get one shot unless you're playing an absurdly tanky build.

Successfully avoiding a few of these attacks will cause the boss to crash into the ground. Now is your chance to deal some damage. High-burst DPS builds can bypass future phases entirely by melting the boss' HP before it has a chance to fly away. If you aren't dealing much damage to the boss, you'll need to repeat this dodging mechanic for every quarter of the boss' health bar. For most players, we suggest gearing up to one-hit the boss so you can avoid all of these mechanics.

Beast In The Ice Drop Table

As with most pinnacle bosses in Diablo 4, the Beast in the Ice has a dedicated drop table. Killing this boss has a high chance of dropping specific Unique cheap Diablo 4 Items for your class. Additionally, all pinnacle bosses have a 1.5% chance of dropping Mythic Unique Items when slain. On Tormented difficulty, you have five shots of earning a Mythic Unique from each kill, making this a solid farm for sought-after Diablo 4 items like Harlequin Crest.
